HTTP 405 Error When Linking From a Facebook App

We recently had an issue of a page not loading when we integrated it with Facebook. The page was just a simple html file hosted on a Windows Server 2008 R2 running IIS 7.5.

The website can be viewed in the browser, but any request coming from app.facebook.com didn’t seem to be getting through.  We were getting back a HTTP 405 error since POST-ing to a static html file is not allowed.

We edited web.config and add the following to solve this problem:

<configuration>
<system.webServer>
.....
<handlers>
<add name="html" path="*.html" verb="*" modules="IsapiModule" scriptProcessor="%windir%\system32\inetsrv\asp.dll" resourceType="Either" />
</handlers>
.....
</system.webServer>
</configuration>
